Puglia enjoys a climate of contrasts, from blazing summers to freezing winters.  The abundance of olive trees, part of the essential landscape, retain water in the air which causes high humidity.  Many new-comers to Puglia are attracted by the possibility of country living afforded by the multitude of unwanted rural houses, only to later suffer the lack of insulation and adequate heating.  Meanwhile, fuel prices are increasing furiously and much of the Puglian sun and wind goes un-harvested.
